Prayer: God, like a bakerwoman, you bring the leaven which causes our hopes to rise. With your strong and gentle hands, shape our lives. Warm us with your love. Take our common lives and touch them with your grace, that we may nourish hope among humanity. We pray trusting in your name, through Jesus our Christ. Amen. Help Fill the cradle. Items needed are: cloth and disposable diapers, baby clothes, including homemade hats and booties, receiving blankets, nursing supplies, and bath items. The church outreach committee will hold a baby shower in the fellowship hall on May 13 (Mother’s Day). This is an exciting and practical way to help those in our communities.

This year’s vacation bible school theme is Babylon: Daniel’s Courage in Captivity. Dates are: Sunday, July 15-Thursday, July 19 from 6 pm to 8 pm. We will kick off VBS with a cook-out at 5 pm on July 15.

What’s Coming Up…
The Jubilation Ringers Annual Children’s Fair will be held on Saturday, May 19th, from 9 AM to Noon at the Hampden Academy Gym. This is a giant “indoor” yard sale with over 50 tables featuring children’s equipment, toys, and clothing (sizes NB – young adult). This is a great opportunity to buy good stuff at incredible prices.
The Children’s Fair has been a major fundraiser for the bell choir for many years, wrote Paula Baines, church secretary. Adding, people inquire of the fair several weeks ahead of the event. It has become a tradition in the Hampden area.
The HHUMC Youth Group will be selling baked goods to support their ministry. For information on reserving a space, contact Pauline Kilhefner at pkilhefner@yahoo.com or 234-3002.
