HHUMC Weekly Highlights
Thursday, February 23, 2012

Almighty God, whose blessed Son was led by the Spirit to be tempted by Satan: Come quickly to help us who are assaulted by many temptations; and, as you know the weaknesses of each of us, let each one find you mighty to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Community Hymn Sing
An Old-Fashioned Community Hymn Sing will be held on Sunday, February 26 at 2:00 pm at All Souls Congregational Church, 10 Broadway, Bangor. All are invited to choose and sing hymns from the church’s recently acquired non-denominational hymnal, Worship & Rejoice. The book includes old-time favorites, historic hymns, multicultural and contemporary hymns, songs, and spirituals. The event is free and refreshments will be served afterward. Call 942-7354 for more information.

Free Tax Help
The free tax return preparation and free e-filing site will be open at HHUMC every Saturday from 9:00 to 4:00. The site will be run by Paul Andorn this year. He does not take appointments so it will be on a first come, first serve basis. Be prepared to wait your turn.
There will be two volunteers preparing returns most Saturdays. Bring your return from last year and any of the documents needed to prepare this year’s return. The volunteers also prepare small business returns; however, they do not prepare returns that have depreciation (such as rental property or businesses with depreciable assets).
The service is available to anyone no matter what age and you do not have to be an AARP member. It is open to members of HHUMC and to the general public as well.

Looking Ahead to March
Do you enjoy music and want to support a great cause? Mark your calendar for a concert fund raiser for the “Help with Hampden Fund” to be held on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2-4 pm. at the Hampden Congregational Church. The all women’s chorus from the University of Maine and the Bangor Area Children’s Choir will be performing at this event.
