HHUMC Weekly Highlights
Thursday, February 16, 2012
Everlasting God, you gave us the faith of Christ
for a light to our feet amid the darkness of this world.
have pity on all who, by doubting or denying it,
are gone astray from the path of safety.
Bring home the truth to their hearts, and grant them to receive it;
Through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sunday School: Beginning Sunday, February 26 (First Sunday of Lent), there will be Sunday School for all ages at 9 am and inter-generational worship at 10 am for the Lenten season. Will you give a little more time for this short season to grow closer to God? Adult classes will be taught by Pastor David and Reeni, and will connect with the Great Stories of Faith sermon series that will be the focus for Lent. Come, be built up by the stories of faith that make us who we are in Christ!
Don’t miss the Church Potluck next Tuesday, February 21 at 5 pm with a family movie. Since there are many people in our church with food allergies, it would be helpful to include an index card with each dish’s ingredients. Thank you.
Join us for Craft fun for all ages next Friday, February 24 from 6 pm to 8 pm in the fellowship hall.
In regards to the announced Bulgarian singing workshops: there will be no Children’s choir this Sat. Feb 18 and no adult workshop on Monday, February 20 due to Holiday weekend. If you would like more info about these workshops you can email me firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks, Anne Tatgenhorst

Confirmation retreat will be held February 17 and 18 at Camp Mechuwana.
The Board of Trustees will meet Sunday, February 19 at 11:30 am in the Games Room.
Free Tax Help
The free tax return preparation and free e-filing site will be open at HHUMC every Saturday from 9:00 to 4:00. The site will be run by Paul Andorn this year. He does not take appointments so it will be on a first come, first serve basis. Be prepared to wait your turn.
There will be two volunteers preparing returns most Saturdays. Bring your return from last year and any of the documents needed to prepare this year’s return. The volunteers also prepare small business returns; however, they do not prepare returns that have depreciation (such as rental property or businesses with depreciable assets).
The service is available to anyone no matter what age and you do not have to be an AARP member. It is open to members of HHUMC and to the general public as well.
Looking Ahead to March
Do you enjoy music and want to support a great cause? Mark your calendar for a concert fund raiser for the “Help with Hampden Fund” to be held on Sunday, March 18, 2012 from 2-4 pm. at the Hampden Congregational Church. The all women’s chorus from the University of Maine and the Bangor Area Children’s Choir will be performing at this event.
