UMCOR Responding to Earthquake in Turkey
UMCOR is in conversation with partners in Turkey, seeking to respond to emergency needs following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake there that has caused injuries, deaths, and widespread destruction.
Food and medicine are most in demand after a 7.2-magnitude earthquake shook eastern Turkey on Sunday, leaving more than a thousand injured and at least 240 dead.
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is in conversation with partner International Blue Crescent (IBC) and is seeking to help meet some of these and other needs, such as blankets, plastic sheets, and hygiene kits for survivors. For the full UMCOR news release, click here.
Your support for International Disaster Response, UMCOR Advance #982450, is urgently needed to meet both immediate and long-term needs. Please give generously.

Autism Speaker on November 13
On Sunday, November 13, an Information Specialist from the Autism Society of Maine, will be speaking during fellowship time about the Autism, Asperger’s, social challenges, sensory challenges, and other issues involving individuals with Autism. This is a chance for people to learn more about the strengths and challenges that individuals encounter with this diagnosis. It will start around 11:30, with time to get a snack before hand, and there will be nursery care for those who need it. This is an opportunity for the HHUMC community to learn more about this disorder so that we can support our grandchildren, neighbors, family friends, acquaintances, employees / coworkers, or individuals attending HHUMC, whom are affected by this disorder. Education is the key to understanding and acceptance.

HHUMC’s Youth Group are putting together shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child is a project of the non-denominational evangelical organization, Samaritan’s Purse. A donation of $7 or more is recommended per shoe box to cover shipping costs. Items need to be in by November 13. See insert for gift ideas
Hampden Highlands Christmas Fair is coming up next month on November 19 and its Silent Auction is in need of donated items. Items should be marked silent auction and left upstairs in the large room. For more information call Judy Rollins at 862-3129
