Let’s follow Jesus together….by The Rev. David Nicol, Pastor (excerpt from July Newsletter)

Last month, I attended the Annual Conference. Along with Kate and myself, three members of HHUMC and ECUMC attended and participated in the work of the Annual Conference—Linda Bright, Kelly Santiago, and Brad Wills. As any of us about the time together—it was filled with blessings!

During the Annual Conference, the Rev. Kate Nicol was ordained Elder, having been elected a member in Full Connection the day before during the Executive Session. God is good, and there is much room for rejoicing!

This is a “let’s follow Jesus together for another year” letter. I hope you’ll join in celebrating our family’s continued presence in the area for the year to come. As many of you know by now, Kate will be Campus Minister and Director of the Wilson Center at the University of Maine, Orono. As for me, I will be continuing as Pastor of Hampden Highlands, and I will also be serving as pastor-of-record for Ellingwood’s Corner UMC in Winterport. I have faith that the Holy Spirit is in the decisions for us to be here—God is at work, and we get to participate!

I want to say a particularly clear “Thank You” to all of you. The last year of serving in your midst has been a blessing to our family. I know that serving with Ellingwood’s Corner and Dixmont this last year has been a blessing for Kate, as has my time with Hampden Highlands. I know that we are both grateful to God for the opportunity to continue to work for Jesus in Hampden, Winterport, Orono, and the surrounding areas.

The last year has been a wonderful, wild ride—and I am looking forward to more wonderful things to come.

In Christ’s Service with You,

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4-7New Revised Standard Version
